Center for Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

The Center for Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery is located on Richland Street in Columbia’s Historical District. Dr. Smythe Rich, MD, called on Bobbitt for his practice’s new two-story, 7,800-square-foot building, designed by LTC Associates.

The facility, equipped for high-end plastic surgery with spec space for leasing, has a brick and hard coat stucco exterior. Aerated concrete block (commonly used in Europe, but not widely used in the United States) provides a solid, lightweight, load-bearing material with good insulation. The center is equipped with high-end interior finishes like three-format glass, arches, radius walls and granite countertops.

Bobbitt worked through challenges like conforming to neighborhood historical district requirements and utilizing the site space to provide the maximum building size and parking lot.
